Carbon in FOCUS
Carbon in FOCUS is an 18-month project funded by Select Carbon (Shell NBS) that will utilise field trials and resources established in the FOCUS trial. The project will be run by Can Tho University and aims to understand the supporting mechanisms that link private sector and farmers to practices generating carbon credits and connect carbon markets. The project will focus on carbon sequestration and not just on low emissions whilst involving communities and underrepresented groups, including women.

Women as leaders
Underrepresented groups including women will be targeted as leaders and pioneers of practice change and carbon market understanding.
Approach
Farmers are prioritised in this project in order to induce practice change, enable scientific reason and then consequential scalability.
Field trials
Alterantive crops including legumes, managmnet practices such as biochar and the implmentation of spatial science will assist in land use change
Data and technology
Both soil carbon and blue carbon will be targeted through the monitoring of crops, soil moisture, GHGe and soil sampling for soil organic carbon.
